The Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) is one of the most successful international patent authorities in terms of the completion and transmission of International Search Reports (ISR) to the World Property Organization. During the webinar celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Philippines’ accession to the PCT on August 17, 2021, WIPO Deputy Director General for Patents and Technology Lisa Jorgenson cited this remarkable achievement, stating that “IPOPHL ranked among the top five international authorities with 100% compliance rate for reporting to WIPO.

As an international authority, IPOPHL prepares ISR reports and International Preliminary Examination Reports (IPERs) which serve as the basis for national intellectual property offices to search and examine PCT applications.
The PCT allows an inventor to seek patent protection from any or all of the 153 member countries by filing a single application.
